At 11.00 am on Saturday 13th December 2003 a plaque was revealed at the cottage where the cartoonist stayed for some time during the war and where he created some of his characters.

At the Menin Gate.  The Khaki Chums formed up on the road at the other end of the entrance.

The 'City Bats' is the name that Birmingham folk refered to the three City Battalions (14 15 16 Royal Warwicks) during WW1.
